Creative Services Coordinator - Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (Waldorf, MD)

The Blue Crabs seek an individual who will be responsible for all Southern Maryland Blue Crabs creative services preparation and execution. This includes preparing slides, videos, and graphics for the video board, as well as operating the video board during games. This also includes being the master designer of all Blue Crabs advertising materials and collateral all while keeping with the brand of the franchise. The candidate will also be responsible for the development of video production for both in-game and promotional use.

This position will provide hands-on experience in video production and graphic design. The candidate will have the ability to develop promotional videos for game day and website use. He or she will also be expected to design flyers, slides, and a wide variety of graphic design projects. The ability to create animated graphics is beneficial. The candidate will also work as part of the Marketing Department by assisting with theme night plans for the season.

The ideal candidate must also have experience in video production/editing, live feed, audio production, as well as graphic design. The ability to complete projects independently and creativity are extremely important for this position, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate is also a "creative thinker", who can take initiative and develop their own creative ideas for new or existing projects.

Key Accountabilities:

·         Create all advertising materials and collateral in keeping with the brand of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs as duties and timing set by the  General Manager

·         Responsible for all aspects of “Game Day” presentation and fan interaction inside of the stadium

·         Creates first-class entertainment features to ensure Blue Crabs fulfillment and fan enjoyment

·         Devise new and creative in-game promotions, video pieces, fan interactive elements, mascot skits, etc.

·         Utilize the newest technologies to create entertainment features that become best in class

·         Scripts graphics, message boards, marquees and all video board features

·         Hire and supervise all part-time press box employees

·         Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers including sound and video suppliers, prop suppliers, and manufacturers, etc.

·         Work in conjunction with corporate partnerships to develop creative in-game and destination area entertainment to satisfy partner and organization goals

·         Interact with all departments to contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and sales campaigns through in stadium promotion

·         Must have working knowledge of all equipment and software in the Production Room, and be able to operate as Video Director 

Minimum Role Requirements
• College degree and at least one year of experience in professional baseball marketing
Working Conditions
• A minimum 40 hour week and 8 hour Monday-Friday work schedule is required of all full time employees during the off-season. This schedule will include some weekend hours for special events as determined by the General Manager.
• Work hours during the baseball season will exceed 60 hours per week and 12+ hours per day on game days including evenings and weekends. The baseball season work schedule may also include 7 or more consecutive work days.
• Physical Demands will require the employee to stand, walk, sit, use hands, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities of the job include close vision, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is normally exposed to normal indoor air-conditioned temperatures as well as exposure to the sun. The noise level in the work environment is usually low where hearing protection is not necessary based on OSHA requirements. Marketing Manager - Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (Waldorf, MD)

General Role Description: The Marketing Manager's primary responsibility is to meet and exceed ticket budget goals for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game events through marketing efforts determined by the General Manager.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a professional sports organization in marketing and/or ticket sales; is an energetic and focused person who takes pride in seeing a full stadium; is a self-starter with an interest in maximizing individual ticket sales using inventive and fun promotional techniques in addition to learning and employing new technology and digital techniques; and is a good collaborator who enjoys working as part of a team to develop and execute great promotional and ticket-sales ideas.  The Marketing Manager will execute our message across a variety of forums as noted below.  Above average writing skills are also a necessity for the production of the program.  The position requires creativity, a sense of fun in what we do in minor league baseball, and the capacity to work long hours under stress during the season.

Key Role Accountabilities:

·         Primary goal is to increase ticket sales from current levels for all Blue Crabs and non-game events held at Regency Furniture Stadium.

·         Manages intern, Video Director and all game day staff in this department.  Creates schedules and manages the Blue Crew, Camera ops, mascot, announcers and all other miscellaneous press box personnel. 

·         Executes external marketing plan for the Blue Crabs.  This includes contracting with external media outlets such as radio, newspaper, digital, billboard and television, producing artwork, and scheduling ad buys in the above media.

·         Executes internal marketing plan consisting of PA messages, video slides, posters, banners and bathroom flyers.

·         Responsible for executing social media marketing as determined mutually by the Blue Crabs management, including content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the like.

·         Executes sponsored promotions for the Blue Crabs, including planning the promotion and purchasing or constructing the necessary props.

·         Executes the promotional calendar established by the Marketing Department and the General Manager.

·         Must have working knowledge of all equipment and software in the Production Room, and be able to operate as Video Director as needed.

·         Responsible for day to day execution of ticket sale promotions for Blue Crabs game events.

·         Executes all community relations tasks, including scheduling and staffing of appearances, speaking engagements, and mascot or player requests.  Fulfills all donation requests and responsible for procuring materials for donation requests.

·         Executes print production including marketing related materials. Managers playbill production and editing in coordination with Multimedia Manager and Graphic Design Manager. 

·         Accountable for ticket sales results for small ticket plans and individual game purchases.  Accountable for in-house attendance meeting budgeted goals. 

·         Meets budget expectations for promotional expenses as determined by Blue Crabs management.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs play in the Atlantic League in Waldorf Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC 30 Miles from the Nation’s Capital. Owned and managed by Opening Day Partners who have been wildly successful operators. The $26 Million Regency Furniture Stadium features 16 suites, 3,200 fixed seats, and multiple picnic and entertainment venues. As part of Charles County Maryland’s development the ballpark serves as a key component in enhancing growth in the county while providing fun, affordable, family entertainment to fans in Waldorf and beyond.

Duties Include:

  • Selling group ticket packages varying from group tickets to catered areas and suites.  Will also be asked to sell season tickets and mini plans as determined by the Director of Sales
  • Make a minimum of 50 cold calls per day to prospect and sell group tickets
  • Attend weekly networking and community events
  • Successfully hit and exceed weekly & monthly sales goals
  • Offer extraordinary customer service to all fans and prospects
  • Work office hours as well as all Blue Crabs' home games
  • Will be asked to work certain non-gameday events at Regency Furniture Stadium


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in sport management or related field
  • Sales experience preferred but not essential
  • Self-motivated individual looking to begin their career in sports
  • Personable and energetic
  • Strong communication, computer skills
  • Any experience working for a sports team or athletic department is beneficial?
