Baseball Operations: Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy/Doctor
Athletic Trainer - Bridgeport Bluefish (Bridgeport, CT)

The Head Athletic Trainer will manage all day-to-day sports medicine operations. They will provide injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems. The Head Athletic Trainer will work closely with the Field Manager and Front Office staff, and attend all training, practices, and home and away games.

I.          General Responsibilities
· Conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
· Care for athletic injuries using physical therapy equipment, techniques, and medication.
· Evaluate athletes' readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
· Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers, or wrists.
· Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches, management, and physicians.
· Collaborate with physicians in order to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries.
· Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment.
· Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention programs.
· Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
· Develop training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance.
· Travel with the team in order to be available for all games.
· Instruct coaches and athletes in the care and prevention of athletic injuries.
· Inspect playing fields in order to locate any items that could injure players.
· Recommend special diets in order to improve athletes' health, increase their stamina, and/or alter their weight.
· Massage body parts in order to relieve soreness, strains, and bruises.
· Confer with coaches in order to select protective equipment.
· Accompany injured athletes to hospitals.
· Perform team-support duties such as running errands, maintaining equipment, and stocking supplies.
· Lead stretching exercises for team members prior to games and practices.

II.         Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and 4 – 5 years professional experience. Master’s degree preferred, 2 – 3 years professional experience
  • Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
  • Current CPR certification

Marketing: Game Operations/Presentation
On-Field Host - Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball (Bridgeport, CT)

The Bridgeport Bluefish are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and energetic individual to serve as the voice and face the team during the 2017 season. The on-field host will be an integral part of the in-game entertainment experience during all Bluefish games. Responsibilities include: providing entertainment throughout the game, narrating between-inning promotions, engaging/interacting with fans, and more. Ideal candidates for the on-field host position will be highly energetic, able to think on their toes, have a great sense of humor, and be comfortable being in front of large crowds.

Job Requirements:

  • Represent the Bridgeport Bluefish at community events or Bluefish home games as the primary on-field host
  • Perform and/or provide support to all necessary community and team appearances. This includes but is not limited to: sponsors, charities, media and private functions

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an emcee / host preferred
  • Will work as needed starting immediately and continue through September 2017
  • Must have flexible schedule and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed

Stadium Operations: Facility/Venue Management
Stadium Operations Manager - Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball (Bridgeport, CT)

The Bluefish are currently accepting resumes for a Stadium Operations Manager. This position is in charge of managing daily operations at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. This is a full-time, salaried position with a preferred start date as soon as possible.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee daily operations of The Ballpark at Harbor Yard
  • Create and help manage stadium events calendar
  • Maintain the cleanliness throughout the ballpark (font office, dugouts, suites, concourse, seating bowl, etc.)
  • Assist in the hiring and daily management of Game Day Employee staff and cleaning crew
  • Work with local police and our EMS services to set up a schedule for all Bluefish games and special events
  • Manage inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Assist with supervising third-party contractors around the stadium
  • Maintain stadium security before, during, and after all events
  • Various game day responsibilities (setup of inflatables, concourse tables, batting practice equipment, etc.)
  • Understand the goals of the organization from a revenue stream perspective to help create and implement ideas to reach those goals
  • All other duties involving facility management as deemed necessary by the General Manager

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to work long, flexibile hours
  • 2-3 years of professional facility management experience is required
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate machinery
  • Required to work all Bluefish home games and special events including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are important

Team Mascot - Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball (Bridgeport, CT)

The Bridgeport Bluefish are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and energetic individual to serve as the new mascot for the team. The mascot would be responsible for providing entertainment as the mascot, B.B., for fans at Bluefish home games as well as outside events. The ideal candidate would have experience performing as a mascot, possess excellent non-verbal communication skills, would be athletically and physically fit, and have a creative and humorous personality.

Job Requirements:

  • Represent the Bridgeport Bluefish at community events or Bluefish home games as the primary mascot
  • Develop the character of B.B.
  • Perform and/or provide support to all necessary community and team appearances. This includes but is not limited to: sponsors, charities, media and private functions
  • Responsible for mascot costume operations including creativity, care, cleaning, maintenance, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a collegiate or professional mascot is preferred, but not required
  • Must be at least 5’6” tall
  • Must be in good physical shape with the ability to be in character for extended periods of time

Time Requirements:

  • Will work as needed starting immediately and continue through September 2017
  • Must have flexible schedule and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
