The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs In Stadium Host position is available starting in April 2010. The start is April 2010 and runs through the conclusion of the 2010 Season.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Marketing Manager main responsibilities will be:

• Energetic, enthusiastic host to emcee in-game contests/promotions in the stands and on the field
• Lead all in-game promotions and contests, ( Musical Chairs, Sumo Suits ect.) on-camera
• Interact with all fans of Crustacean Nation
• Follow prepared scripts and Maintain a High Volume of Energy.
• Paid position

REQUIREMENTS:
• Self-confidence and enthusiasm to perform in front of large crowds.
• Must be comfortable on-camera.
• Professional speaking background preferred (DJ, comedian, other hosting experience).
• Ability to work varied schedule within season; selected nights/weekends.
• Strong communication skills, clear speaking voice to use microphone in large stadium.
• Outgoing personality to interact with fans of all ages.
• Sense of humor appropriate to family friendly atmosphere.
• Must be available for each home game  (nights/weekends).

Education Requirements: Four year degree in related field or degree in progress .
 

Work Experience: Prior experience in professional sports preferred.
 

Mascot Duties

• Perform as “Pinch” the Blue Crabs Mascot at all Community Appearances.
• Actively research, pursue and schedule opportunities for “Pinch” to appear at community events.
• Maintain "Pinch" costumes by cleaning costumes when necessary.

Community Relations
 

• Schedules promotional appearances
• Fulfills Blue Crab donation requests
• Assists with creating and maintaining databases
• Develops existing and new grassroots marketing initiatives

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have internships available for the Spring of 2010. They start in January and run to May 15th. Applicants with senior and junior standing will be given preference for internship positions.

• Must demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a “can-do” approach
• Able to work long hours
• Some financial compensation is available
• Housing and travel are the responsibility of the student
