Sugar Land Skeeters Road Broadcast Interns-seeking individuals to work on the radio road broadcast only, for the 2017 season. Looking for people in the following cities:

Job Description:

  • Someone looking to continue, add, or make the jump to professional baseball broadcasting.
  • This is an unpaid broadcasting position, but college credit is available.
  • To assist main broadcaster and serve as play-by-play and color analyst for Skeeters road games.
  • Receive minimum of three solo innings during road games and work color the rest of the game.
  • Being able to do more than one city a big plus.
  • Receive invaluable experience in professional baseball.
  • A person to help with pre-game & post-game show and interviews on road game broadcasts.
  • Assist with pre & post-game setup of broadcasting equipment.
  • Coordinate with studio host for updates.
  • Have and continue to develop knowledge of Atlantic League, its teams and players.
  • Work with professional and former major league talent.
  • A chance to work in baseball’s best independent professional league.
  • Be heard in both the fourth largest market and around the country.

Qualifications:

  • Need to live no further than one hours travel time for the following teams York Revolution, Somerset Patriots, Southern Maryland Bluecrabs, and Lancaster Barnstormers
  • Ability to do more than two teams would be a great benefit.
  • Must have baseball broadcasting experience in college or on professional level.
  • Essential to be able to make all 8-10 games in your select city of broadcast.
  • Ideal candidate looking to pursue a position not just in sports, but in baseball.
  • Must be available from April to September.
  • Looking for communications, media relations or broadcasting majors, but will consider others who are unique candidates who fit requirements.
  • Must have great working knowledge of baseball especially at the professional level.

About the Sugar Land Skeeters:

The Sugar Land Skeeters play at Constellation Field, a state-of-the-art stadium located in Sugar Land – just 20 minutes from downtown Houston.  The Skeeters play 140 regular season games in the Atlantic League, considered the highest level of Minor League Baseball.  The Skeeters have drawn over 2 million fans in the first four seasons of play in the Atlantic League.

About the position:

The grounds crew assists the Head Groundskeeper in such areas as:

  • Infield skin maintenance
  • Mound and home plate repair
  • Mowing and sod work
  • Working remaining home Skeeters games, as well as tournaments
  • Landscape upkeep: trimming, weeding, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Some experience in general lawn care, preferably in the sports field setting
  • Ability to work all Skeeters games (www.sugarlandskeeters.com), as well as any special events held at Constellation Field
  • Ability and willingness to work long hours
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more; this is a physically taxiing position

Media Relations Intern - Sugar Land Skeeters Baseball (Sugar Land, TX)

Position: March 2017-September 2017 (End of the Season)

Paid Position

Media Relations Intern: The Sugar Land Skeeters are accepting resumes for a Media Relations Intern for the 2017 season. The start date would be in April and the internship would run through the 2017 season (late September/early October). This is a six-month full-time commitment.  Experience in public information, sports information, media relations, public relations and/or event management is preferred. Candidate must have strong writing and verbal skills and be able to communicate with numerous audiences including media, team staff, front office, fans and sponsors.  The successful candidate should be reliable, able to handle multiple tasks, work long hours (weekends & evenings included), team player and assist the department in:

  • Writing and distributing periodic press releases, program copy and media guide.
  • Providing copy and player text and graphics for the Skeeters website.
  • Statistical updates distributed to staff and media during home games.
  • Writing daily game notes, game summaries and other daily informational material during the season.
  • Acting as a liaison and providing support to media.
  • Writing player bios, assist in layout and production of team program and media guide.
  • Assisting in game operations of the press box.
  • Produce game line-up each game and update line-up and standings board in stadium
  • Interacting with fans in a customer friendly fashion.
  • Serving as support staff for all other departments on an “as needed” basis.
  • Other duties as assigned including: player appearances, mascot appearances, tarp duties (rain games), distributing promo items and programs pre-game and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • College degree with emphasis in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of social media management & platforms
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends

Photography Intern: The Sugar Land Skeeters are looking for a photography intern to assist the Digital Media and Communications department. The photography intern will report to the Graphics Coordinator and Marketing and Digital Media Coordinator and will assist with the day-to-day objectives of the Digital Media and Communications Department.

Job Duties:

  • Shoot action photos of training sessions and batting practices

Special Events Intern: The Sugar Land Skeeters are looking for a special events intern. The special events team hosts event such as, but not limited to, college baseball games, concerts, festivals, and tournaments. This intern will be required to work nights as well as many weekends, as most events are held during these times. Applicants must be able to work during the special events busy season (September through December), both in the office during the day and at the events as they may come.

The interns will report to the Director of Stadium Operations and will assist with the daily duties that come with maintaining Constellation Field.

  • Ensuring safety and security of the building
  • Manage vendor and client relationships
  • Scheduling building systems such as HVAC lighting and alarms
  • Upgrades and repairs on equipment and building systems
  • Help manage the cleaning crew

Ticket Office Intern: The Sugar Land Skeeters are looking for a box office intern to assist in the daily duties and procedures of a stadium ticket office. The intern will work in Ticket Return as well as Microsoft office to create reports, spread sheets, and keep a running total of all the items coming in and going out of the stadium.

Job Duties:
